One of my fears when it comes to playing in a casino (I have mostly played with friends and family) is that the men at the table will look down at me. Have you experienced this-do you find that men naturally assume that women will not be as good as they are?

It's unfortunate, but I do think that men generally do look down on women who play, and just think that they aren't as good as they are. It's sad but true. I like to redeem myself however, and most men become quite impressed by my skills. It just stinks to have to do that over and over again every time I go somewhere new.

I have played in casinos and there is always at least one rat who will smirk at me because they think it will be an easy win. Most men are decent and just see me as another poker player but some just see me as a ditz.

I wonder why men think that are playing against women tend to see them as an easy win? That's how it seems in my eyes at least. I just thought that those days were over. Sadly, it seems as if there will always be some form of discrimination.

I don't think it's any different from any other relm that has women in a man's world Sally. Oddly though, I am used to it in my working life, as I am a computer engineer and that seems to be about 98% male in my experience. We have to fight to be accepted-and yet still I am nervous about poker even though I get it in my working life.

I've had few experiences but all of them have been just fine. I think because I'm still learning I met one who felt his ego stroked for a chance to share his knowledge. A bit annoying actually. I can't complain though. My husband laughed at my mistakes in good fun but he took the more experienced women as seriously and with all fairness as the men.
